NI PXIe-790x/791x Series Alternative: Conduant Optical FPGA Boards for High-Speed Serial Applications
The Conduant PXIe-8324 and PXIe-8324-DSP are the optical FPGA replacements for the NI PXIe-7902, 7912, and 7915 series. Both use AMD Kintex Ultrascale FPGAs with dual MPO24 connectors, PCIe Gen3, and 8 GB DRAM — at 40 to 57% below NI list pricing.

NI PXIe-790x/791x vs Conduant — Side by Side
Each table shows a specific NI model against its Conduant replacement options. Pricing reflects NI published list price versus Conduant standard pricing.
NI PXIe-7902 Alternative
The NI PXIe-7902 is built on a legacy Virtex 7 FPGA with PCIe Gen2 and 2 GB DRAM. Both Conduant options represent a meaningful jump in FPGA generation, interface bandwidth, and memory capacity — at substantially lower cost.
NI PXIe-7903 Alternative
Important context for 7903 evaluations: The NI PXIe-7903 is a high-end board — 2,586,000 logic cells, 9,216 DSP slices, 48 serial lanes at 28 Gbps, and 20 GB DRAM. Conduant boards carry fewer logic cells and DSP slices, and significantly less DRAM. For applications that were specifically designed around the 7903's peak throughput, a direct swap is not appropriate without an engineering conversation first. For applications where only a portion of the 7903's headroom was being used, the Conduant options may be well-suited at a fraction of the price. Our engineers can work through this with you.

NI PXIe-7912 Alternative
The NI PXIe-7912 uses a KU040 FPGA with 4 high-speed serial lanes. The Conduant PXIe-8324 matches the FPGA generation, provides 6x the logic cells, and adds 20 optical lanes. The price delta is modest but the spec improvement is significant.
NI PXIe-7915 Alternative
The NI PXIe-7915 ships with a KU060 FPGA and 4 high-speed serial lanes. The Conduant PXIe-8324 provides nearly double the logic cells and increases serial lane count to 24 — a meaningful improvement for data-intensive optical applications.
Conduant PXIe-790x/791x Replacements
Two Optical FPGA Boards. One Decision.
The PXIe-8324 covers most 790x/791x replacements. The PXIe-8324-DSP is the right choice when DSP slice count drives the application design.
