Conduant's StreamStor® products provide a wide variety of scaling options:
- Add additional disks for higher performance:
StreamStor® is scalable for higher performance by simply plugging in additional hard disk drives -- up to 16 on some models. StreamStor® dynamically configures to the number of installed drives during system initialization. - Replace disks with higher capacity disks for longer duration:
Longer recording duration is achieved by simply replacing existing drives with higher capacity drives. StreamStor® is compatible with off-the-shelf IDE or SATA drives including 2.5 inch, 3.5 inch, Compact Flash and solid state drives. Maximum available capacity for 3.5 inch IDE drives is currently 750 GB. - Multi-bus configurations for extremely high-speed applications:
For data rates exceeding the performance of a single StreamStor® (currently over 500 MB/s) you can configure multiple StreamStor®s to record at rates of GB/s and beyond. Multi-bus motherboards and PCI expansion backplanes can be used for extreme scalability.
All StreamStor® products are designed for sustained high-speed, error-free, recording and playback.
High Speed
StreamStor® recorders sustain data rates of more than 500 MB/s from a single board. By using multiple StreamStor® devices you can record at 1 GB/s or more. StreamStor®'s unique approach to moving data direct to disk allows it to take full advantage of the speed of the hardware interface.
On 66 MHz/64-bit, 66 MHz/32-bit or 33 MHz/64-bit PCI buses, StreamStor® easily sustains a data rate of 200 MB/s.
Flexible Interfaces
The StreamStor® product line comes in PCI, PXI and CompactPCI form factors. Products are designed to use either the 32-bit PCI bus or the 64-bit PCI bus. In addition to the PCI bus, StreamStor® supports interfaces like FPDP (Front Panel Data Port), LVDS, Serial FPDP or ChannelLink (a low voltage differential (LVDS) interface developed by National Semiconductor). Pair StreamStor® with off-the-shelf digital I/O boards, DSPs, A/D or frame grabbers for additional interface options.
Sustained Transfer
StreamStor® ensures that every data bit is captured and recorded error-free by the system. StreamStor® does this by dynamically moving data to the hard drive array attached to the system without the overhead of the underlying operating system.
Long Duration
As hard disk drives continue to grow in capacity, so does StreamStor®'s ability to record for longer periods of time. Current off-the-shelf disk drives are now available in capacities of 1 TB. A base recording system from Conduant can start with 16 TB of total capacity, providing recording durations of several hours at full speed. Conduant's Big River™TK200 recorder can start with 16 TB; however, you may choose to use the TK200 as an infinite (24x7) recording system with Conduant's swappable disk modules.
