  • Sustained recording of 400 MB/s
  • High speed Infiniband connectors
  • Full data flow control
  • Clock speeds to 200 MHz
  • Up to four independent clock sources
  • Optional playback interface
  • Direct data interface to StreamStor recorders
  • Field upgradeable/customizable hardware

The StreamStor LVDS-16 mezzanine board can be used with compatible StreamStor controllers to provide a direct data input port for low-voltage differential signal (LVDS) input data. When combined with a StreamStor controller such as Amazon, this interface provides a data input port capable of running up to 400 MB/s. This provides an easy to use, reliable data interface for your data streaming application:

  • Digital signal processing (DSP)
  • High-speed data acquisition
  • Radar and sonar
  • Medical Imaging
  • Telemetry
  • Satellite download
  • High-resolution video

With 16 bits of input data and a clock speed of up to 200 MHz, the LVDS-16 provides a flexible port for connection to external data sources driving LVDS data signals. The LVDS-16 uses a 12X and 4X Infiniband connector for connecting the incoming data, clock and flow-control signals to provide a reliable connection and cable interface capable of supporting lengths varying from 2 meters at 200 MHz to several meters at lower frequencies to the external data source.

The LVDS interface is implemented using an Altera Stratix II FPGA to provide a flexible platform that allows customizing to customer specifications. By default the card is configured to support a single clock input and flow control but can also support up to four clocks (one per nibble) to allow cable tuning or up to four independent data channels.

The LVDS-16 also has an optional playback interface that can be added. The playback interface card utilizes a second slot to provide a duplicate connector set on the system back panel. This playback interface supports all the same features as the input port and allows real-time playback of data to an external destination.
