Founded in 1996 as Boulder Instruments, Conduant Corp. has become the leader in ultra-fast, long-duration digital recording and playback systems for scientific research, military and instrumentation applications. Conduant's hard disk-based recording/playback systems offer a much faster, substantially more cost-effective solution over older, instrumentation-grade tape media technologies. This affords Conduant a significant competitive advantage over status quo recording systems. Now that hard disk pricing per gigabyte has dipped below the equivalent tape media cost per gigabyte, customers have a compelling, alternative choice for their recording and long-term storage need -- hard disks. Conduant is well positioned to take advantage of the shift from instrument-grade tape to hard disks.
Originally conceived to provide recording technology for testing in the hard drive manufacturing business, the company's first product, StreamStorâ„¢, is now used in a wide variety of applications.
Kenneth R. Owens is co-founder and CEO of Conduant Corp. Prior to forming Conduant, Ken spent 20 years developing hardware and software architectures at data storage companies including StorageTek and Maxtor. Ken holds two U.S. patents that apply to the design of disk storage systems. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado. In his free time Ken plays soccer and enjoys sailing.
Philip E. Brunelle is co-founder and CTO of Conduant Corp. He has 30 years experience in data storage engineering, including product development for StorageTek, MiniScribe/Maxtor and Harris Corp. Phil holds three U.S. patents relating to improving the performance of disk drives and systems. He earned his BSEE from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
